The right light for the dental clinic

Dental clinic design must include the use of lamps that ensure maximum visual comfort, perfect color rendering, and significant energy savings.

ECLAIRE lamps are designed to ensure optimal working conditions in accordance with the requirements of the UNI EN 12464-1 standard, which defines the lighting requirements for indoor workplaces.

This standard analyzes visual tasks, highlights the needs for visual comfort, and specifies the lighting requirements for dental offices as well.

A light level of 1,000 lux is required for the patient, while in the surrounding area, to minimize visual fatigue, the lighting must provide at least 500 lux.

For accurate color rendering, the standard requires a color temperature of at least 5000K and a color rendering index (CRI) greater than 90. Color rendering is the value that defines the ability of a light source to make the colors of the objects it illuminates appear natural.

Furthermore, according to the standard, the glare index (UGR) must be equal to or less than 19. Glare is minimized by using direct and indirect light lamps and by using screens made of materials that diffuse the light as much as possible.

Finally, the UNI EN 12464-1 standard also indicates the parameters required in other areas of the clinic, such as the waiting room (200 lux) and offices (300-500 lux).
